Hello world!

Intro

Hello! This is a new site I’m spinning up to talk about whatever I feel like talking about! I’m not sure how much I’ll post on here or exactly what types of things I’ll post. Some things might be technical: I might post on personal software projects I’m working on, or even how this blog is built. It’s not exactly meant to be a professional blog though; it’s really just me talking about ✨whatever✨

Topics

Some areas I’m interested in that I might post about:

  • software development: I do this professionally! I write a lot of JavaScript, but these days I write more tools than frontend UI.
  • photography: I do this for fun. I have a GH5 which I bought to take videos with. It turns out videos are a LOT of work to get right, so I don’t do it that much. I like to take my time with my photos, and don’t like spending much time in an editor.
  • travel: I like to travel. I have gone to Japan a number of times already, including a year where I studied abroad in Tokyo as a college student. I would like to to Europe someday, but I keep going back to Japan!
  • games: I don’t play games that much anymore, but I do really like Killer Queen, a ten player arcade game. I’ve made some really great friends across the country playing it.
  • music: I listen to a fairly wide range of music, but these days I tend towards 2000s-ish indie. It’s pretty calming to listen to. I did a bit of audio engineering for fun many years ago. When I remember to do it, I like to listen to all the nominees for the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical Grammy award. Last year, my favorite of that batch was Desire, I Want to Turn Into You.
  • movies: I tend to watch movies Criterion Channel on and off. The last movie I really liked was Crossing Delancey.
  • art: I like going to art museums, especially modern art museums. I really enjoy explorations in form, function, texture, and process, and am less interested in highly symbolic art. I do like satirical art like Duchamp’s toilet, however. I love Monet.
  • cheese: I really like cheese. Recently, I’ve been into triple cream bloomy rind cheeses. I don’t know a ton about cheese, but I’m trying a lot of them!
